EIG Welcomes Executive Team Hires: DJ Nordquist as Executive Vice President, Scott Shewcraft as Vice President of Policy

Jun 14, 2021

Washington, D.C. – The Economic Innovation Group (EIG) today announced that Jennifer “DJ” Nordquist has joined the organization as an Executive Vice President and Scott Shewcraft has joined as the Vice President of Policy. As members of EIG’s executive team, Nordquist and Shewcraft will play critical roles in advancing the organization’s bipartisan efforts on key economic challenges, including spatial inequality, economic dynamism, and building wealth for lower-income workers.

“We are thrilled to welcome DJ and Scott to EIG’s leadership team as we look ahead to our next chapter of growth as an organization,” said EIG President and CEO John Lettieri. “They bring deep, bipartisan experience and passion for advancing EIG’s work on behalf of a more dynamic and inclusive American economy.”

Nordquist most recently served as the Executive Director representing the U.S. on the Board of Directors of the World Bank Group after unanimous confirmation by the U.S. Senate. Prior to the Bank, she served as Chief of Staff at the Council of Economic Advisers in the White House and was Chief of Staff for the Economic Studies program at the Brookings Institution. She also served as Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Senior Advisor in the Office of the Federal Coordinator for Gulf Coast Rebuilding, Deputy Chief of Staff at the FDIC, and Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Education. She is concurrently a Fellow at the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia, a nonresident senior adviser at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, and on the advisory board at ClearPath.

“Throughout my career, a guiding perspective has been that research should inform public policy and I’m thrilled to join an organization that is dedicated to forging a more entrepreneurial and innovative 21st century U.S. economy,” said Nordquist. “I look forward to supporting policy solutions that ensure more Americans are connected to economic opportunity and prosperity.”

Prior to joining EIG, Shewcraft served as the Chief of Staff and former Legislative Director for Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11), where he managed an active office as the Congressman’s primary advisor on political and legislative strategy. He also served as a Presidential Management Fellow at the Department of Housing and Urban Development where he represented the Department in the White House Interagency Rental Policy Alignment Initiative and developed congressional budget justifications. Scott also served as Housing Fellow to then-Congressman Gary Peters (MI-14).

“EIG’s work is based on creative and bipartisan policies that put American workers and communities front and center in a growing, innovative economy,” said Shewcraft. “I’m excited to join those efforts – especially when it comes to helping lower-income American workers build wealth and empowering locally-driven economic development.”
