Washington, D.C. – The Economic Innovation Group (EIG) today announced that Chris Slevin has joined the organization as vice president. In this role, Slevin will play a key role in developing EIG’s policy agenda and advancing its efforts as a leading bipartisan research and advocacy organization.

“Chris will be a tremendous asset to EIG and its partners in our next phase of growth, helping us develop an impactful research and policy agenda to address some of the most important economic challenge facing our country,” said Sean Parker, founder and executive chairman of the Economic Innovation Group.

“Chris brings a wealth of expertise and a deep commitment to our mission to foster a more dynamic and inclusive American economy,” said John Lettieri, EIG’s co-founder, President and CEO. “He will be instrumental in expanding our work on critical issues facing workers, entrepreneurs, and communities nationwide.”

“The growing gap in economic well-being between places and communities around the country is the biggest challenge we face. I’ve been fortunate to work on these issues in Congress and am excited to join a great team and board at EIG to help propose new solutions to these challenges,” said Slevin. “EIG is unique in its ability to bring leading economists, entrepreneurs, investors, and policy advocates to the table, and I look forward to helping the organization grow.”

Slevin joins EIG from the office of Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), where, as legislative director, he led efforts on transportation and infrastructure, economic mobility, education and workforce, criminal justice reform, and oversaw the introduction of the Investing in Opportunity Act, introduced in 2016 by Senator Booker and Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), which formed the basis for Opportunity Zones. Most recently, Slevin led Senator Booker’s legislative efforts on the First Step Act, the criminal justice reform bill recently signed into law. Previously, Slevin served as an economic policy advisor for Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) where he focused on trade policy, labor, manufacturing, and workforce and economic development issues in communities affected by trends brought about by increased globalization and other factors over the last decade.

Senator Cory Booker noted, “Chris is an exceptional leader who understands how to bring people together to do big things — and he’s passionate about fighting for underserved communities and those who have been forgotten or left behind. For five years, as my Senate legislative director, he ably pursued these passions for my team and the people of New Jersey. I’m excited for Chris as he takes the next step in his career.”

“Chris Slevin brings passion, intelligence, and ingenuity to everything he does,” said Senator Sherrod Brown. “For too many workers, hard work isn’t paying off – it’s a problem Chris worked to tackle with thoughtfulness and creativity in my office, and I know he will be an asset to the EIG team.”
