Washington, D.C. – The Economic Innovation Group (EIG) is excited to announce that Jed Kolko, former Under Secretary of Commerce for Economic Affairs in the Biden-Harris Administration, has joined its Economic Advisory Board. Kolko brings extensive experience in economic research and policy, further strengthening EIG’s mission to advance solutions for a more dynamic American economy.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jed to our Advisory Board,” said EIG Chief Economist Adam Ozimek. “His important work on economic geography and recent contributions to the Commerce Department make him an invaluable asset to our mission. We’re eager to draw on his expertise to address the critical challenges facing communities across America.”

Most recently, Kolko was the Under Secretary of Commerce for Economic Affairs in the Biden-Harris Administration, a role in which he served as the principal economic advisor to Secretary Gina Raimondo. He also launched the Regional Economic Research Initiative and he oversaw and provided policy direction to the Census Bureau and the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Kolko has also been chief economist at Indeed and Trulia, and he has contributed regularly to the New York Times’ Upshot section. With a focus on employment, housing, regional economic development, demographics, and technology issues, Kolko’s work is known for its accessibility and actionable insights.
