Some examples of our work include:

• Opportunity Zones, based on the bipartisan Investing in Opportunity Act, Opportunity Zones is a national community investment tool established by Congress in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 to connect private capital with low-income urban and rural communities across America.
• Heartland visas, a place-based immigration proposal to connect skilled workers from around the world with welcoming communities struggling with the effects of demographic stagnation. This concept is based on EIG’s work to explore the scale and consequences of demographic decline across American communities.
• Non-Compete Reform, a bipartisan effort to promote worker mobility, wage growth, entrepreneurship, and innovation by ensuring workers everywhere have the right to compete.
• The Distressed Communities Index (DCI), a new and interactive way to visualize economic distress and prosperity across 25,000 zip codes in the U.S.
• The Index of State Dynamism (ISD), a new and interactive way to measure and analyze the long-term decline in economic dynamism in each state, revealing a widespread departure from the entrepreneurial, mobile, and opportunistic traits that defined the most prosperous decades of the U.S. economy.
• The New Map of Economic Growth and Recovery, a jarring look at the limited and concentrated nature of new business creation since the Great Recession.
