Washington, D.C. – The Economic Innovation Group (EIG) is pleased to announce three stellar additions to its research team: Nathan Goldschlag as Director of Research, Kenan Fikri as Senior Fellow, and Jess Remington as Research Analyst.

“We are thrilled to welcome three outstanding additions to EIG’s research staff at such a pivotal moment in the national economic debate,” said EIG President and CEO John Lettieri. “Nathan, Kenan, and Jess each bring deep expertise and an unwavering commitment to addressing the challenges facing American workers, entrepreneurs, and communities. They will be instrumental in helping EIG continue to produce timely and high-quality research on a range of issues shaping the future of the U.S. economy.”

Goldschlag joins EIG from the U.S. Census Bureau’s Center for Economic Studies, where he served as Principal Economist and led research on business dynamics, entrepreneurship, and the impact of technology on the economy. In this role, he has published extensively on topics of interest to EIG, including the business dynamics of high-tech industries, patenting firms, and high-growth firms, the relationship between regulation and the secular decline in business dynamism, the use of advanced technologies like AI and robotics, and the allocation of inventors and scientists in the U.S. economy.

“EIG has been a leading voice on the economic forces reshaping the American economy, and I’m thrilled to be joining the team,” said Goldschlag. “I look forward to building on EIG’s strong foundation of research to help inform smart, evidence-based policy solutions.”

Fikri most recently served as Director of the Regional Economic Research Initiative at the U.S. Department of Commerce, where he led efforts to better understand and respond to regional economic disparities. Prior to that, he was a long-time member of the EIG team, having originally joined the organization in 2015 after a six-year stint at Brookings Metro. He brings with him irreplaceable institutional knowledge and an abiding passion for EIG’s work and mission.

“EIG’s work has never been more vital, and I’m excited to return to the organization at such a pivotal time,” said Fikri. “It’s a privilege to rejoin this mission-driven team and contribute to the next chapter of EIG’s growth.”

Remington joins EIG from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, where she worked as an economist on Fair Market Rents and Income Limits. She brings a broad range of experience across government, think tanks, and media, with prior roles at the Mercatus Center, the Brookings Institution, and The Atlantic. Remington is also the founder of DC YIMBYs, a volunteer-driven organization that advocates for pro-housing policies in Washington, D.C.

“EIG is at the forefront of research and policy innovation on some of the most pressing economic issues of our time,” said Remington. “I’m excited to join this exceptional team and help contribute to solutions that expand opportunities for more Americans.”
