The 2017 Institute for Governors’ Economic Policy Advisors brought together governors’ top economic development staff to network, learn from each other, and hear from experts who follow economic development trends across the states. The discussion topics included: entrepreneurship; model capital access programs for small business; venture capital in states; technology commercialization support; evidence-based economic development; creative economy impact; rural economic development; community development; building state talent pipelines; and the evolving nature of work.

EIG co-founders Steve Glickman and John Lettieri participated in two concurrent panels at the conference. John joined moderator Sally Rood, a senior policy analyst at the NGA Center’s Economic Opportunity Division, for a session on “Galvanizing Rural America,” while Steve Glickman joined NGA Center policy analyst Steve Harrington for a conversation on “Strong Communities, Strong Economies.”
